Is God Still Good When Our Child’s Story Is Different Than What We Wanted For Them?

January 1, 2018

  1. Peg christensen says:

I will never forget this time and how infathamable it was! Too hard to grasp! Yet God was glorified mightily in your grief and tears. We prayed and wept with you and rejoiced at the healing she experienced so far.

  2. Marilyn Krehbiel says:

Oh Dear Syl, How the LORD shines through your grief!!!! Thanks for opening these wounds to show us GOD IS GOOD!!! Continual prayers for you and your family as you move forward!!

  3. The depth of both your grief and your faith come through. I’m so sorry for your struggle. I’d like to pass on a verse I’ve always found comforting. Psalm 56:8, “You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in Your bottle. You have recorded each one in Your book.”

  4. I’m starting to really hate it when people say “God is good” and its addendum “…all the time.” While it certainly is rock-solid true, it more often than not comes from the lips of people who have never walked down the emotional path you have been walking. They usually mean we’ll, but they just don’t know. They just don’t know. I don’t know either, except that your story brings tears to my eyes, and encouragement to my soul.

    • Thank you John. I look at the story God has put in our lives, and am always reminded…He held onto us. He is purely good. We weren’t you know…so much…when I look back, I remember what I often didn’t feel. Fact. He is good. Thanks for your comment!

  5. Cindy says:

Thank you for honest reflections about questions most Christians don’t like to ask…let alone answer. Glad you hung onto hope as a thread weaving your story of faith. Beautifully written. How is your daughter now?

    • She lives with incomplete quadriplegia, and some health issues as a result. She is a wife, mom and loves Jesus and life. Her husband is a wonderful support. We have so much to be thankful for. All that truly matters remains. Thanks Cindy.
