What Is a Nucleus?
Inside each of your cells is a special area called the nucleus. Think of the nucleus as the capital building in a bustling city — it’s where the big decisions are made! The nucleus is the largest structure inside the cell, and it holds something very important: DNA.
What Is DNA?
DNA is like a special code that contains all the instructions for building and running your body. It’s a molecule made up of tiny building blocks called atoms. To picture this, think of a LEGO car made of different pieces. DNA is a similar creation, but instead of blocks, it’s made of atoms.
Now here’s a fun fact: If you stretched out all the DNA in your body, it could reach the sun and back many times over! God truly is a master designer, coding every detail of who you are with incredible precision.
DNA determines things like:
Your hair and eye color
Your height
The shape of your face
When you lose baby teeth
It’s like a big file full of instructions that make you, well, you!
How Does DNA Build Our Bodies?
Your DNA works with tiny “printers” inside your cells called ribosomes. But how does the DNA get its instructions to these printers? That’s where another special molecule, RNA, comes in. RNA acts like a messenger, carrying the DNA’s instructions to the ribosomes.
Here’s how it works:
DNA is the code for your body.
RNA copies that code and delivers it to the ribosomes.
Ribosomes read the code and “prints” (creates) proteins.
These proteins join together to build everything in your body, from skin to bones to brain cells.
Isn’t it amazing to think about how much is happening inside your body right now? You truly are wonderfully made!
What Is Inheritance?
Your DNA comes from your parents. This is called inheritance, which means something is passed down to you. That’s why you might have your mom’s eyes or your dad’s height.
But inheritance isn’t just about physical traits. The Bible tells us that we also inherit something called a sin nature. This means that because of Adam and Eve’s disobedience, we all sin. Romans 3:23 reminds us, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
Thankfully, God offers us a new inheritance through Jesus Christ! When we choose to follow Jesus, we inherit His goodness and the promise of eternal life. Romans 5:17 says, “One man sinned, and so death ruled all people because of that one man. But now those people who accept God’s full grace and the great gift of being made right with him will surely have true life and rule through the one man, Jesus Christ.”
What a beautiful gift!
You Are Wonderfully Made
As we learn about DNA and the intricate systems in our bodies, we see clear evidence of God’s design. Information like the kind found in DNA doesn’t come from nowhere — it comes from an intelligent Creator. Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
So the next time you wonder why you are the way you are, remember this: God made you with love, care, and a purpose. And that makes you truly one of a kind!
