When You Are An Introvert Raising An Extrovert With “So Many Words”

January 9, 2017

  1. Like I feel like you just wrote about my life. Ha! Great post!

  2. Yes, this!! But you are so right- really listening to our kiddos invites us into their world and that’s a pretty awesome thing! Thanks for the encouragement knowing that I’m not the only one!!

Beautiful post. And so very true. I’m very much an introvert with three children, two of whom are extroverts and the baby is only 20 months but I think she’s going to be more like me. There are SO MANY days I feel exhausted. Where I just crave quiet. Crawling under the covers and blocking everything else out. But you are right. Children need their parent’s validations and I try to give that to my children. I love the little glimpses I get into their world. For that, I consider myself very blessed.

  4. Sara M. says:

My daughter talks non-stop. You can see that her mind is so busy with her thoughts that she struggles to realize there is anything else but those thoughts. And while I am an extrovert (albeit, at the lower end of the scale), I very much prefer to be quiet with my own thoughts these days and I find the constant barrage a little intrusive. I will often steal away for some privacy, and even ask for some quiet times, remembering that I do need to make space for her sharing because it is a necessary outlet for her.

  5. Miri says:

This is beautiful. It is exhausting but then also a beautiful sacrifice.

  6. Alesia says:

What a great post! As an introvert, this certainly is my situation. I could be sitting on the couch, perfectly content to just sit; but my son wants to drag me around the house, showing me the speck on the wall. I try not to get too frustrated. Motherhood is a learning experience for sure. You certainly expressed that in this post.
