I'm Eryn
Hey there!
When all the flowers in the vases have been dead for a week;
When dirty dishes fill the sink and cover the countertops,
And I can’t see the floor;
When I’m wiping handprints off the wall for the fifth time that day;
And the mountains of dirty laundry blocks off my bedroom door,
I will praise The Lord.
When the day is done, and I haven’t eaten a single meal;
When I haven’t found the chance to use the restroom all day,
And my coffee is cold;
When I am running twenty minutes late yet again today;
And my day, my week, my year has not fit my determined mold,
I will praise the Lord.
When my toddler places a large, living black bug in my hand;
When the month old birthday balloon is caught in the ceiling fan,
And the poopy diaper tore;
When my two-year-old is rolling all of our balls down the street;
And boxes of cereal have been dumped all over the floor,
I will praise The Lord.
When all of the kids are crying and screaming at the same time;
When I feel like I’m the only one whose kids behave this way,
And one just hit again;
When someone cannot find their shoes, coat, toy, hat, book-bag, or glove;
And the noise is so loud my head feels like it is caving in,
I will praise The Lord.
When I am greatly tempted to entertain thoughts of escape;
When I fear that my best is never going to be enough,
And I just want to cry;
When I have lost my way and can’t tell the ceiling from the floor;
When life doesn’t feel beautiful and I can’t tell that’s a lie,
I will praise The Lord.
And in those sweet moments when life goes as smoothly as I planned;
When a tear stained cheek finds comfort in my arms and lies so small,
and peaceful upon me;
When those soft, small hands reach up and lovingly embrace my neck;
And a tiny voice whispers, “I love you, Mommy”,
I will praise the Lord.
“I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” – Psalm 146:2
